An accomplished construction professional, Eric Hymowitz has owned and served as president of Houston-based ROC Homes since 2002. Alongside his leadership of the Texas firm, Eric Hymowitz belongs to the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), an organization that has represented local construction and remodeling professionals since 1941.
In late April, several GHBA members, led by CEO Casey Morgan, took part in Reopening Houston Safely. Developed by the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), the five-day event consisted of several working groups focused on reopening the city safely and sustainably. Participants came from varied backgrounds, with 80 community and business leaders representing the key industries and regions taking part. Business groups in attendance included those comprising customer-facing workers, office employees, and small business professionals. Following the event, the GHP issued a statement noting that several areas needed to be focused on, including the role of businesses in the recovery effort. It also stated that equity for vulnerable people should be considered, as should setting a balance between economic activity and public health. The working groups also suggested that key stakeholders from healthcare, business, and the government should coordinate while preparing for the long-term consequences of the pandemic.
