Since his college days, philanthropy has been important to Eric Hymowitz. He has a personal connection to pancreatic cancer - his cousin passed from the disease. Today, Eric Hymowitz supports the work of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). As Mr. Hymowitz said in a briefing reported by ReleaseWire, "My hope is, by donating, I can contribute to the resources that will help with research that finds a cure.” PanCAN focuses on both patient care and research, helping people currently battling the disease while also searching for a cure. Since its founding in 1999, PanCAN’s efforts have helped increase the level of attention to pancreatic cancer in the scientific community. The organization has awarded 167 grants to scientists since 2003. A small donation in this area can have an outsized effect - for every $1 of PanCAN grant funding, researchers have received an average of $11.01 in additional funding from other sources.
